Vasco Nunes

Technical Coaching Director

Along with Ms. Toni Marin, Vasco Nunes are the founding members of SDMA T/A Halton Hawks FC. Vasco Nunes is recognized as a leading expert on youth soccer coaching. For over 30 years he has coached youth/ junior teams, in three different continents and at a wide range of levels, youth, provincial, and national teams.

Vasco is an ex-professional soccer player from South Africa. He has coached on three continents – Africa (South Africa) Europe (Switzerland) and Canada. He holds various coaching licenses from Canada and Europe.

During the past 30 years, Vasco has been involved in the research, development, and implementation of the Soccer Development Model (SDM), (Horst Wein).

In 2002 he spearheaded the implementation of the SDM and Xcel Coaching® Model into the North American Soccer Market.

He has written nine scientific articles on youth coaching, has written three coaching books, and has presented technical papers at various sports science and soccer conferences.
